Job Description

Our client is a leading publisher of Children’s and non-fiction books looking for a new Production Editor to join their team in Northamptonshire. Responsible for managing a wide range of  books across the list, this is a fantastic role for someone with prior project management and editorial experience looking to join a great company and to work on highly illustrated popular books.

Key duties:

  • Work with the head of publishing on all tasks relating to the creation of the publishing programme
  • Create detailed specification briefs and liaise with production department to ensure the delivery of high-quality books
  • Assist in coordinating production of new books in line with editorial and creative briefs.
  • Ensure all files are coordinated through the correct approval workflow for each team.
  • Actively research market trends and identify any gaps in the publishing market for new products.
  • Project manage specific projects in partnership with publishers
  • Research, write, copyedit and proofread and give final approval on a wide range of books in a variety of formats
  • Ensure all publishing files are editorially accurate and created in line with the in-house style guidelines
  • Liaise with and coordinate 3rd-party contributors, including; packagers, illustrators, authors, licensors and other freelance agents.
  • Problem-solve within the team and escalate issues appropriately to ensure publishing deadlines are achieved.

Experience / skills required:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in a production or editorial role with publishing, ideally
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good influencing skills
  • Leadership skills
