Job Description

A leading professional publisher is looking to appoint a Portfolio Development Manager, to identify and commission standards and guidance publications for the technology and engineering market.  This role will be based in Hertfordshire, around 25 minutes from Central London by train.

Key duties:

  • Conduct market research for new topic areas and assess commercial opportunities for new products and services
  • Commission standards and associated guidelines, codes of practice and other publications
  • Manage the publication process from concept to full launch, and propose improvements to processes and departments
  • Evaluate market trends and translate opportunities into commercially viable business cases
  • Attend industry events and conferences

Experience / skills required:

  • Extensive experience of commissioning scientific, technical or business guidance or information
  • A commercial approach and experience of developing new product proposals
  • Ability to develop business strategies into new product strategies and experience of managing P&L
  • An understanding of the standards publishing process
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of working with expert contributors and senior stakeholders
