Job Description
A professional membership body has an exciting opportunity for an Editor to join their offices in central London. You will be overseeing the publication of their membership magazine, supplements, blogs and emails, from commissioning content to production whilst managing a member of staff. This role will suit a confident and autonomous Editor with some good editing experience and online publishing experience. A background in a membership/trade organisation and experience of working on a business, legal or financial magazine would be ideal.

Key duties:

  • Lead editing and production of print and online magazine, supplements, blogs, etc.
  • Drive editorial and commercial development of the magazine and associated website
  • Commission and edit content, ensuring content meets audience’s needs
  • Write broad range of content, news, opinion pieces, blogs, interviews, etc.
  • Lead on digital development, driving website traffic
  • Manage relationship with external suppliers such as advertisers and sponsors
  • Manage a direct report, mentoring and developing them

Experience / skills required:

  • Solid experience in a similar position working on a professional trade magazine
  • Experience working on online content and building online presence is required
  • Experience working in a professional organisation or membership body is a bonus
  • Direct line-management experience is essential
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • The ability to communicate at all levels and work collaboratively
  • Solid planning and organisation skills with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Confident and self-motivated attitude with a creative approach to work
