Introducing the Team

It always helps to put a face to a name! We are delighted to introduce our expert, hardworking team to you. Our publishing recruitment consultants have all worked in publishing or media, have extensive industry knowledge and a large network of contacts. The senior management team here at Atwood Tate have a wealth of previous experience, both in publishing and publishing recruitment.

Claire Law

Managing Director

Claire is the founding director and Managing Director of Atwood Tate. Her early career started in Editorial in B2B publishing before making the move into Rights in Trade book publishing. She worked for Orion and latterly as Rights Manager at Headline before making the leap into publishing recruitment.

Setting up the London office of Inspired Selection, Claire cut her teeth filling specialist publishing vacancies for all types of publishers. She achieved the REC Certificate in 2003 and progressed to become Director before leaving for a short break to pursue other interests.

In 2010, Claire returned to the publishing recruitment arena and set up Atwood Tate. With her trusted team, she has grown the business to offer a range of services including Freelance & Temp as well as Permanent and Contract recruitment for a wide range of publishers nationwide and internationally.

Lynne Willoughby

Director (Marketing and Business Development)

Lynne joined the board of Atwood Tate in January 2011 to help grow the business, to become the leader in publishing recruitment for permanent, contract and temporary roles.

Lynne has many years of experience in publishing, working in production for John Wiley in Chichester as well as Blackwell and Heinemann Publishers in Oxford. As a founder and former director of Inspired Selection, Lynne has a wealth of experience in recruitment as well as publishing.

Lynne currently focuses on business development, marketing and advertising within Atwood Tate.

Jo Bowerman

Director (Finance and Operations)

Jo also joined the board of Atwood Tate in January 2011 to help grow the business.

Jo's publishing experience includes production team management for Sweet and Maxwell in London and working in production for Heinemann Publishers in Oxford. As co- founder and former director of Inspired Selection, Jo has a wealth of experience in recruitment as well as publishing.

Jo currently focuses on finance and operations within Atwood Tate.

Helen Speedy

Associate Director

Helen joined Atwood Tate with over six years' experience of working in publishing, latterly as Rights Executive for Orion Children’s Books. Helen has an excellent understanding of publishing, an MA in Publishing, and is a natural and experienced communicator.

Helen manages the team of consultants working on permanent vacancies across all publishing sectors and her main focus at Atwood Tate is on Senior Management opportunities in all roles and all locations across the UK.

Karine Nicpon

Lead Consultant

After completing her MA in Publishing and an extensive intern experience in trade publishing, Karine spent a few years as an Editorial and Legal Assistant at Editions Points in Paris. Since joining Atwood Tate in September 2013, Karine has looked after a broad range of roles including editorial, production, design, operations and digital. She has excellent knowledge of the publishing industry and understands the needs of both clients and candidates. She completed the Certificate in Recruitment Practice of the REC in 2015.

Karine is now Lead Consultant and focusses on all permanent B2B roles across all locations.

Olivia Constantinides

Senior Publishing Recruitment Consultant

Olivia has a degree in Philosophy and started her career in publishing working in UK Sales for publishing distributors Abrams and Chronicle, where she honed her client service and account management skills. Client and candidate satisfaction is her top priority and she continues to build on Atwood Tate's reputation for excellence.

Olivia specialises in recruiting for Sales, Marketing, Publicity and Customer Services roles in all sectors excluding B2B (from graduates to mid-management) in London, the Home Counties and East Anglia.

Christina Dimitriadi

Senior Publishing Recruitment Consultant

Half Greek-half American, Christina has an international background and brings with her years of experience working in STM publishing and sales. She spent two years in the Netherlands where she completed her MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy. Looking for a new challenge that would combine her publishing experience and diplomatic skills, she joined Atwood Tate in December 2015 to cover Catherine’s maternity leave and is now a permanent member of the team.

Her main focus at Atwood Tate is on Rights, International Sales, and Contract roles and Editorial vacancies in Trade, Academic, Educational, Professional, Associations, Charities and Societies publishing (from graduates to mid-management) in London, the Home Counties and East Anglia.

Clare Chan

Publishing Recruitment Consultant

Clare has a degree in English and Marketing and started her publishing career at a publisher of art books in Hong Kong, where she gained experience in design, editorial and print production. Moving to London in 2016, Clare continued to build on her publishing experience working at Black Dog Publishing and Artifice books on architecture. Transferring her knowledge and understanding of the publishing industry across the East and the West, Clare joined Atwood Tate in 2018 and specialises in Editorial roles in STM publishing and Production, Production Editorial, Design, Distribution, and Operations positions across all publishing sectors (excluding B2B) in London, East Anglia and the Home Counties.

Claire Carrington-Smith

Senior Publishing Recruitment Consultant

Claire has always worked in client focussed and business development roles in the book industry, starting out as a Floor Manager at Blackwell’s Bookshops then moving into various publishing sales roles at Octopus, Usborne and DK where she worked for ten years, latterly as Special Sales Manager at Bloomsbury Publishing.

Keen to transfer her excellent account management and client service skills to a new challenge, Claire joined Atwood in December 2017 in our Oxford Office as Senior Publishing Recruitment Consultant, and is responsible for all roles in all sectors excluding B2B (from graduates to mid-management) in all UK locations outside of London, Home Counties and East Anglia.

Julie Irigaray

Trainee Recruitment Consultant

After studying for a BA in Anglophone Studies in Paris and an MA in Early Modern History in London, Julie lived between Ireland, the UK and Italy. She worked as a translator in Bologna and earned an M.Phil.in Literary Translation in Dublin where she specialised in the French publishing market. Julie also worked as an HR intern in Paris and is now a Trainee Publishing Recruitment Consultant. She joined Atwood Tate in May 2018, focusing on B2B roles across all locations.

Charlotte Tope

Trainee Recruitment Consultant

Charlotte graduated from university with a degree in Interior Design, and started her publishing career with an internship at Creative Arts publisher Prestel. During her time there she gained a wider understanding of the publishing world and the many roles that make up the industry. Keen to utilise her previous working skill set Charlotte joined Atwood Tate in May 2018 as a trainee recruitment consultant assisting with the Editorial roles in Trade, Academic, Educational, Professional, Associations, Charities and Societies publishing. As well as Rights, International Sales, Royalties and Contracts roles in London, East Anglia and the Home Countries.

Cheryl O'garro

Administrator

Cheryl graduated from City, University of London with an MA in Culture, Policy and Management specialising in arts participation and communications. Before joining Atwood Tate, Cheryl worked as a Staffing Assistant for a hospitality agency and completed internships across book publicity, consumer PR, and media special events. Cheryl joined Atwood Tate in May 2018 as an Administrator, assisting the Permanent Team across B2B, Editorial, Publicity, STM and senior appointments.

Kellie Millar

Manager (Temps/Freelancers)

Kellie, Manager of our temps / freelance division is originally from the US, and attended Art College in Canada before relocating to the UK. She spent some time working in the film and TV industry, before falling into media recruitment and then joining Atwood Tate in April 2013. She has a wealth of experience in media and publishing recruitment and is used to successfully placing candidates within both print and digital roles at all levels, across all areas of publishing, Nationwide, also including permanent administrative, PA, HR and Finance roles.

Alison Redfearn

Senior Recruitment Consultant (Temps/Freelancers)

Alison works with Kellie on the Temps Team as a Recruitment Consultant. Alison has a degree in Business Studies and Human Resources Management as well as a passion for publishing. Before joining Atwood Tate, she was working for Waterstones as a Bookseller, where she was liaising with publishers and authors, participating with book signings and events and keeping up to date with all aspects of the industry. Prior to this, Alison worked within e-commerce recruitment. Her main focus is on temp and freelance roles as well as permanent administrative, PA, HR and Finance positions. She achieved the REC Certificate in 2017.

Anna Slevin

Temps Administrator

Anna has a BA in English and American Literature from the University of East Anglia and began her career with series of administrative placements within her local council. Upon flying the nest, she joined Atwood Tate as a temp herself to gain first-hand experience of the academic publishing sector. Anna joined Atwood Tate in our London office as the Temps Administrator in February 2018 where she provides administrative support to the Temps and Freelances Team, helping to source the best candidates for temp opportunities.
