Introducing the Team

It always helps to put a face to a name! We are delighted to introduce our expert, hardworking team to you. Our publishing recruitment consultants have all worked in publishing or media, have extensive industry knowledge and a large network of contacts. The senior management team here at Atwood Tate have a wealth of previous experience, both in publishing and publishing recruitment.

Claire Law

Managing Director

Claire is the founding director and Managing Director of Atwood Tate. Her early career started in Editorial in B2B publishing before making the move into Rights in Trade book publishing. She worked for Orion and latterly as Rights Manager at Headline before making the leap into publishing recruitment.

Setting up the London office of Inspired Selection, Claire cut her teeth filling specialist publishing vacancies for all types of publishers. She achieved the REC Certificate in 2003 and progressed to become Director before leaving for a short break to pursue other interests.

In 2010, Claire returned to the publishing recruitment arena and set up Atwood Tate. With her trusted team, she has grown the business to offer a range of services including Freelance & Temp as well as Permanent and Contract recruitment for a wide range of publishers nationwide and internationally.

Lynne Willoughby

Director (Marketing and Business Development)

Lynne joined the board of Atwood Tate in January 2011 to help grow the business, to become the leader in publishing recruitment for permanent, contract and temporary roles.

Lynne has many years of experience in publishing, working in production for John Wiley in Chichester as well as Blackwell and Heinemann Publishers in Oxford. As a founder and former director of Inspired Selection, Lynne has a wealth of experience in recruitment as well as publishing.

Lynne currently focuses on business development, marketing and advertising within Atwood Tate.

Jo Bowerman

Director (Finance and Operations)

Jo also joined the board of Atwood Tate in January 2011 to help grow the business.

Jo's publishing experience includes production team management for Sweet and Maxwell in London and working in production for Heinemann Publishers in Oxford. As co- founder and former director of Inspired Selection, Jo has a wealth of experience in recruitment as well as publishing.

Jo currently focuses on finance and operations within Atwood Tate.

Helen Speedy

Associate Director

Helen joined Atwood Tate with over six years' experience of working in publishing, latterly as Rights Executive for Orion Children’s Books. Helen has an excellent understanding of publishing, an MA in Publishing, and is a natural and experienced communicator.

Helen manages the team of consultants working on permanent vacancies across all publishing sectors and her main focus at Atwood Tate is on Senior Management opportunities in all roles and all locations across the UK.

Karine Nicpon

Lead Consultant

After completing her MA in Publishing and an extensive intern experience in trade publishing, Karine spent a few years as an Editorial and Legal Assistant at Editions Points in Paris. Since joining Atwood Tate in September 2013, Karine has looked after a broad range of roles including editorial, production, design, operations and digital. She has excellent knowledge of the publishing industry and understands the needs of both clients and candidates. She completed the Certificate in Recruitment Practice of the REC in 2015.

Karine is now Lead Consultant for all Editorial roles with a focus across these sectors in London: B2B & Professional, STM & Academic, Trade, and Educational, including Associations, Charities, and Societies.

Catherine Roney

Senior Publishing Recruitment Consultant

Catherine first joined Atwood Tate in 2013 after working for Octopus Publishing Group as an International Sales Executive. With over six years’ experience working in trade publishing, Catherine was responsible for selling International rights as well as supporting the International Sales team. Originally from Australia, Catherine has a keen understanding of the publishing industry and completed the Certificate in Recruitment Practice of the REC in 2015.

Re-joining the team in January 2019, Catherine’s main focus at Atwood Tate will be in Marketing, Publicity and Product Management, covering all sectors in London.

Clare Chan

Senior Publishing Recruitment Consultant

Clare has a degree in English and Marketing and started her publishing career at a publisher of art books in Hong Kong, where she gained experience in design, editorial and print production. Moving to London in 2016, Clare continued to build on her publishing experience working at Black Dog Publishing and Artifice books on architecture. Transferring her knowledge and understanding of the publishing industry across the East and the West.

Clare joined Atwood Tate in 2018 and specialises in these key areas: Sales, Rights & International Sales, Production, Production Editorial, Project Management, Design, Distribution & Operations positions across all publishing sectors in London.

Parissa Bagheri

Publishing Recruitment Consultant

Parissa is a Masters with Distinction and First-Class English Literature graduate, with a huge passion for publishing. She started her publishing career with internships at both W.W. Norton & Company Ltd and Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, where she gained an editorial insight into the publishing world. Keen to enter the publishing industry as well as utilise her previous experience gained from a recruitment assignment, Parissa joined Atwood Tate in October 2018. Parissa works on Editorial roles in London with a focus on the Trade and Educational sectors.

Claire Carrington-Smith

Senior Publishing Recruitment Consultant

Claire has always worked in client focussed and business development roles in the book industry, starting out as a Floor Manager at Blackwell’s Bookshops then moving into various publishing sales roles at Octopus, Usborne and DK where she worked for ten years, latterly as Special Sales Manager at Bloomsbury Publishing.

Keen to transfer her excellent account management and client service skills to a new challenge, Claire joined Atwood Tate’s Oxford office in December 2017 and is now a Senior Publishing Recruitment Consultant.

Stephanie Hall

Senior Publishing Recruitment Consultant

Stephanie has an MA in Literary Translation from the University of East Anglia and began her publishing career at Nature (Now Springer Nature). She joined Atwood Tate in 2012 and has recently re-joined us after working as Resourcing Manager at HarperCollins for four and a half years, managing all the recruitment across the different sites and at all levels. In 2015 Stephanie was nominated for a Bookseller Rising Star award and has excellent knowledge of the publishing industry, recruitment best practice and experience of working on cross-industry projects such as the Publishing Apprenticeship, mentoring Publishing MA students and diversity initiatives for the Publishers Association. Stephanie has returned to look after all vacancies outside of London.

Azraa Oozeerally


Azraa recently graduated from the University of Roehampton with a BA in English Literature. She has a passion for books and writing and her work experience in medical publishing with the BMJ led to a growing interest in publishing. Wanting to launch herself into a career in the publishing industry, Azraa has recently joined Atwood Tate and is looking forward to learning all about the different roles and sectors in the industry. Her current position is working as the Administrator for the Permanent team.

Novia Kingshott

Senior Recruitment Consultant (Temp/Freelance)

Novia has focussed solely on temps as she loves the fast pace and urgency the temps recruitment process requires as well as giving her undivided attention to the client and candidate care required throughout the placement and on boarding process.

Novia is also highly experienced in managing the candidate compliance and security vetting process, having placed top-notch candidates within healthcare, private medical, government and legal fields. Novia is also very passionate about the publishing industry and is looking forward to offering her customer service and in depth knowledge of the temps experience to both Atwood Tate’s clients and candidates alike.

Kathryn Flicker

Temps & Social Media Coordinator

Kathryn completed her history degree from Goldsmiths University in 2017. After completing a publishing internship with Penguin Random House, she then went on to work in admin and marketing roles. With a passion for reading and keen to learn more about the publishing industry, Kathryn sought a role with Atwood Tate. Kathryn joined in 2018, supporting the Permanent team as an Administrator and in July 2019 moved over to learn about the Temps team. With experience in website SEO and social media management, Kathryn is also our Social Media Coordinator.
