Publicity in Publishing
Publicity in publishing tends to apply mainly to Trade and Consumer publishing.
Trade publishing houses will allocate varying degrees of their marketing budgets to publicity and PR. The role of publicity in publishing concentrates mainly on getting a new book title known to the consumer market, as effectively as possible. This can include:
- press advertising
- author tours including signing sessions at bookshops and appearances on TV and local radio
- writing press releases to national newspapers and magazines
