Charity and Not for Profit Publishers
Some charities and not for profit organisations publish their own list of titles, predominantly about their own projects and areas of concern, to increase awareness about the work they do. Charity and not for profit publishers also publish with a view to fundraising, with any revenue earned from publications ploughed straight back into the organisation to support their charitable work programme. Charitable organisations publish a range of products - books, journals, reports, training resources, videos, and policy papers. Through their publishing, charities and not for profit publishers set out to communicate their policy research, advocacy messages, and programme experience, and to be an active contributor to current debates in their sphere of expertise.
Some university presses are actually registered as charities as their fundamental business purpose is to publish the academic works of their own scholars and professors.
