B2B Publishing (business-to-business publishing)

B2B publishing refers to trade periodicals, journals or magazines printed with the intention of targeted marketing to a specific industry or type of business.

B2B publications are advertorial led; typically containing advertising content focused on the industry in question. This means a majority of career opportunities within B2B publishing will be sales based - selling advertising and advertorial space to relevant companies within a certain sector. Editorial within B2B publishing will relate mainly to news items within the industry or business sector, as well as relevant career opportunities.

Some B2B publishing operates under controlled circulation, meaning the publisher decides who may receive free subscriptions based on their qualification as a member of the trade. This gives the publisher the USP that their advertisers are guaranteed their advertisements will be received by their target audience.

There is a blurring between B2B Publishing and some professional, STM and academic journal publications, as more and more of the latter sectors become reliant on advertising revenue.
