What our candidates say about us...
Having initially applied for a role I was under-qualified for, I promptly heard back from my agent at Atwood Tate who brought to my attention a different position and suggested I apply for this one instead. I did so and several weeks later I was offered the job. If it weren't for Atwood Tate, then, I would most probably still be searching - and not only did I secure a position but I now have a job which is perfectly suited to my chosen career path, a job I will actually love (something which I know is not easy in the current job climate). Throughout the whole process, Atwood Tate's service was excellent, always communicating, always understanding and always doing their best to accommodate you. The service was also very personal and I felt, quite simply, looked-after. I would thoroughly recommend using Atwood Tate to anyone else - and I would certainly use them again myself.
Abigail Miles (placed as Editor ELT at Balberry Publishing, Jan 2012)
Atwood Tate provides a professional, helpful and also friendly service to candidates. The team have worked in publishing themselves and understand the specialist roles I have worked in and was aiming for, rather than being simply sales-orientated. I had good feedback and contact all the way through the process, even if there was no specific news, which compares very favourably to some other agencies. I would be very happy to recommend Atwood Tate.
Rights Candidate (placed as Contracts Manager in leading UK trade Publisher, Jan 2012)
My experience of Atwood Tate was a thoroughly positive one, from my first e-mail contact with the company to receiving the contract for my new job. A pleasure to deal with on personal level and very strong on communication, they also gave me sound advice on how to rework my CV to make it perform even harder, briefed me very well pre-interview and handled post-offer negotiations efficiently and effectively. I felt like they were on my side throughout. These people know what they're doing!
Simon Cowell, (placed as Commissioning Editor (Design), Berg Publishers, Oct 2011)
I found Atwood Tate to be highly professional, efficient and a pleasure to be in touch with. Helen always prioritised my needs and helped to secure me my ideal job. I was kept updated throughout the recruitment process, and Helen's positive and friendly attitude was an excellent support. I would have no hesitation in recommending Atwood Tate, and Helen, to other candidates, and I am sure they would do an excellent job.
Rachel Lovering (placed as Development Editor with South East Educational publisher, Oct 2011)
Atwood Tate was not only able to find me my dream role but also in a location that meant I did not have to re-locate. This seems particularly miraculous to me as after a master's degree, tireless interning and 2 years of searching (to no avail) I was ready to throw in the towel. Atwood Tate's personal service and email job alert service meant that I was able to keep in touch and updated easily without having to take time out of my then fulltime employment. In particular, Sam Coleman provided a very friendly and efficient service. His never-ending patience, reassuring and realistic advice ensured that the interview process went as smooth as possible and gave me the confidence to believe I really was right for the role. He was also able successfully negotiate my start date.
I have now passed my three month probation at the first (and only) position Atwood Tate put me forward for and could not be happier. I will definitely remain on their books for as long as they will have me, I cannot think of a better recruitment agent. I would thoroughly recommend their agency to anyone looking for a job in publishing, particularly a frustrated postgraduate like myself. Thanks Sam!
Lauren Darby (placed as Editorial Assistant with South East Educational publisher, Jun 2011)
Atwood Tate were particularly useful for me because I was attempting to get back into the UK job market after 7 years of living abroad in Australia. The editorial area I work in, illustrated reference books, is niche and jobs in this area do not come up often. Helen Speedy (living up to the name it has to be said) was quick to take action when she spotted a role that matched my skills and experience in the Natural History department at Bloomsbury Publishing. She emailed me about the role and before I knew it I had a first interview. The whole process took less than 3 weeks. Helen updated me with all the information I needed for both interviews and the test and was very supportive-thank you!
Jasmine Parker (placed as Senior Editor at Bloomsbury Publishing, (Natural History), Dec 2011)
I worked with Helen Speedy at Atwood Tate. Not only was Helen a very professional and lovely consultant, but she was also discerning in the selection of roles she sent through to me; in every case the suitability of roles matched my requirements as well as my skills. Helen is extremely helpful, communicative and really does listen to what your career goals are. She was a pleasure to work with throughout the process and I can't recommend a better recruitment consultant or company. When I got my new job I was actually quite sad to have to say goodbye to Helen at Atwood Tate!
Kate Wanwimolruk (placed as Senior Editor, Bloomsbury, Feb 2012)
Atwood Tate is the best recruitment agency I have used. I signed up with several but the consultant [Sam] at Atwood was by far the most proactive and supportive. I got regular updates, I felt he put me forward for applicable roles and really went the extra mile to place me with a company in which I could have a long term future. I have recommended Atwood Tate, I would definitely use them again in the future.
Editorial Candidate (placed as Project Manager for Educational Publisher, South East, Oct 2011)
Atwood Tate has helped me getting back into my favourite industry - the industry of books in both written and electronic form and related businesses - after a break from the industry of 8 years. They believed in my qualities and arranged for me to get a very interesting international job allowing me to work from my base in Denmark. Atwood Tate are very approachable and never leave you standing alone at any time during the recruitment process. I have no hesitation in recommending them above other agencies for jobs relating to publishing, media and the like. Thumbs up!
