A leading academic books publisher in central London is looking for a Production Editor to take overall responsibility for the production of a list of academic journals. With an attractive benefits and rewards package this is an excellent opportunity to work for a friendly and exciting publisher.

Key duties:

·          Manage the production of a list of journals from acquiring copy to final print and online files

·          Responsible for the publication of journals by the planned issue date and to the contracted extent

·          Monitor and manage freelance project managers, copy-editors and proof-readers

·          Provide support to academic editors, board members and contributors

·          Share responsibility for managing and monitoring editorial and origination costs

·          Liaise regularly with editorial and marketing colleagues to keep them informed of developments/issues

Experience / skills required:

·          Proven editorial production experience within journals publishing

·          Experience of working with freelance suppliers

·          Sound proof-reading and copy-editing skills

·          Excellent organisational and time management abilities

·          Good understanding of typesetting, printing and design

·          Ability to work independently and as part of a team
