Job Description

We have a great opportunity to work as a Production Editor for a world leading publisher of books and journals in Oxfordshire. The role will involve managing the publication of a group of academic journals and is a permanent role to start ASAP.

 

Key duties:

·          Production control of a portfolio of academic journals

·          Ensuring publication is in line with house styles and produced to schedule  and on budget

·          Building relationships and liaising with academic editors and other external/internal contacts

·          Ensuring copy is received on time

·          Checking copy edited manuscripts, selecting and monitoring freelance copy editors

·          Preparing issues for typesetting and coordinating and collating author’s and editors’ corrections

·          , checking and passing issues for press and checking bound copies and online issues

·          Monitoring and implementing schedules, progress chasing

·          control throughout the publication process

 

Experience / skills required:

·          Must have some previous experience of working in a production department in publishing

·          Good knowledge of the production process ideally within journals publishing

·          Strong copy editing and proofreading skills

·          Keen eye for detail, along with excellent communication and organizational skills
