Job Description

A leading STM publisher based in Oxford is looking for a Book Production Project Manager to start as soon as possible. You will be overseeing the production of printed and electronic projects.  This is a fixed term contract for 12 months..

Key duties:

·          Ensure that books are produced, from manuscript through to bound copies, in a timely and appropriate manner

·          Commission freelancer illustrators/studios, copyeditors, proofreaders and indexers

·          Set and maintain the budget for given projects and ensure the system is up-to-date at all times

·          To ensure that final electronic files for each project are obtained and correctly archived

·          Regular liaison with typesetters and printers to ensure schedules are maintained effectively

·          Maintain effective communication with all members of the team, the manager and suppliers

 

Experience / skills required:

·          Relevant experience in book production / production editorial, including copyediting, proofreading and indexing

·          Experience of working on 4-colour titles and electronic products

·          Experience of commissioning Health Sciences illustrations would be an advantage

·          Familiarity with a variety of software packages and repro, print and electronic production processes

·          Good level of financial acumen

·          Ability to deal confidently with people at all levels

·          Ability to work well under pressure, be flexible, and have a methodical approach to work
