A renowned publisher and packager of trade illustrated books in London is looking for a Design Manager to handle their in-house design, manage suppliers and oversee provision of sales material. This is an integral role for the right candidate within a friendly publisher with excellent benefits.

Key duties:

·          Create covers, jackets, prelims and endmatter

·          Create creative and consistent style briefs

·          Communicate project template, brief, style, budget and schedule to internal designers

·          Provide sales material to internal and external marketing departments

·          Work closely with heads of other departments

·          Attend senior management meetings, supply progress reports and host project start up meetings

·          Manage department budgets and pass invoices on a monthly basis

·          Create style briefs for each project and ensure the style is consistent throughout each publication

·          Brief and commission illustrators,  photographers and designers

·          Continually source new suppliers

Experience / skills required:

·          Demonstrable experience of working on a range of adult and junior publications

·          Ability to prioritise and organise work effectively

·          A keen eye for style and detail

·          A proven ability to handle a heavy workload

·          The confidence to express your opinions

·          A working knowledge of Abobe CS packages, PDFs and Quark

·          You will also have to be highly creative to handle in-house design and development
